CIANJUR - Aftershocks again rocked Cianjur, West Java, today at 11.41 WIB. Based on BMKG records, this earthquake had a magnitude of 3.9. The aftershock point was 8 kilometers northwest of Cianjur Regency with a depth of 1 kilometer. The earthquake was felt in the areas of Warungkondang, Sukaresmi, Pacet, Cugenang, and Ciherang. The VOI team was in Cirumput Village, Cugenang District, when aftershocks occurred. The rainy conditions that fell an hour before the aftershock made it more difficult for residents to evacuate themselves. For a moment this aftershock occurred, a mother's screams were heard trying to get out of her house which was not affected by the earthquake. However, due to the earthquake, mothers and other residents could only come out to the terrace of the house. This aftershock also caused a refugee camp in Cirumput Village to collapse. This tent is covered with tarpaulin and is designed with bamboo sticks. One of the elderly residents who were in the tent was immediately transported to an ambulance belonging to the Bogor District Health Office who was alerted around the location to rest. BMKG noted that as of 07.00 WIB there were 161 aftershocks from the main M5.6 earthquake in Cianjur Regency, West Java. "The number of aftershocks until November 23, 2022 at 07.00 WIB was 161 aftershocks," said Head of the BMKG Earthquake and Tsunami Center, Daryono, confirmed in Jakarta, Wednesday, November 23. He said, based on the analysis of the source mechanism, the earthquake in Cianjur, West Java had a sliding fault to the left. "This is similar to the characteristics of the Cimandiri fault, so this is suspected to be a fault or a Cimandiri fault, and that's true because it is in the fault system zone," said Daryono. Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) as of Tuesday (22/11) afternoon recorded as many as 268 victims who died as a result of the earthquake. Of the 268 victims, 122 bodies have been identified. Then BNPB also noted that there were 151 missing victims, and are still being searched. For the injured victims as many as 1,083 people, the number of refugees was 58,362 people. Meanwhile, the loss of housing materials was severely damaged in the number of 6,570 units, moderately damaged houses in the number of 2,071 units, houses lightly damaged 12,641 units. The data is still growing along with the ongoing data collection.
