JAKARTA - Synology today, Tuesday, November 22, introduces upcoming solutions that help businesses become more resilient and can better address IT challenges through the flexibility of hybrid cloud architectures and ecosystems that continue to develop from integrated solutions.

Joevita Evadne, Regional Marketing Synology said significant innovations across products include data management, data protection, and IT infrastructure security, setting higher standards for realizability, security, and scalability.

Safer foundations

The DSM 7.2 which will be present in early 2023, will introduce full-volume encryption to improve storage performance by 48 percent compared to share-folder-based encryption. DSM 7.2 will also introduce a write once, read many'' or WORM folder.

This folder can prevent modification or deletion of data for a certain period of time. And like new permanent backups in Synology's backup app, Hyper Background, which bans any changes once data is created, this feature will help protect data from ransomware and cyber threats.

Sharing and collaborating easily Reform for Synology's personal cloud solution, Synology Drive, helps keep files more secure while sharing files between teams with watermarks and download policies.

Remote removal capability also helps minimize security risks by removing synchronized folders from stolen Windows and macOS clients. Automatic logging with AD credentials as well as providing backup and sync tasks, make large applicability simpler.

Sharing data via SMB will be safer and more efficient in DSM 7.2. The file locking feature or cross-proto protocol file locking between SMB and Synology Drive file sharing ensures that the files being used cannot be edited or overwritten. Support SMB multichannel transfers take advantage of all available network connections between the server and the client to improve the performance of SMB file transfer.

Next-generation storage servers will also be coming soon in 2023, the latest scale-out system designed for file and object storage. The scale-out cluster will be much faster than the current largest solution of Synology, with linear performance and capability scalability so that more units can be added.

The first generation scale-out system will support clusters of up to 60 servers for more than 12 PB of storage, writing performance of more than 60 GB/second, and more than 80,000 connections simultaneously. This cluster will provide availability of up to 99.99 percent and support a suite of Hyper Background and Active Background data protections, backup apps from Synology.

Reserve management around the world

The new management platforms for Active Backup and C2 Backup aim to enable smooth management, implementation and monitoring of backup tasks across the company's IT infrastructure, regardless of location or scale.

The new platform brings together Synology on-premise and cloud-based solutions, providing IT admins and MSP with the most efficient tools to protect and ensure the restoration of any device or service on time.

AI-powered cameras

Immediately launched in early 2023, the IP Synology Series 500 camera will offer superior performance, security and integration with all camera settings manageable directly from the Surveillance Station, a video surveillance management app from Synology.

Edge AI capabilities, such as maintaining infiltration detection zones, reduce server recording capacity to allow wider AI-supported implementation, while specialized processing can speed up search for people and vehicles anywhere in video feeds.

Present in two form factors, the Synology Series 500 camera features a 5 MP sensor for wide-angle 16:9, 3K (2880x1620) at 30 FPS. The camera supports PoE and is weather resistant in any (IP67) weather, allowing flexible indoor or outdoor placement. The Synology Series 500 camera supports NDAA/TAA United States and is designed for security, introducing similar security innovations found in Synology's entertainment products.

Automatic violation detection The application of Synology, Active Insight, is developed to automatically prevent user activity that violates data protection rules. The new data loss prevention feature can monitor user activity such as login, file access, joint task creation, while comparing uploaded or shared file passwords.

At the time of the violation being triggered, the system can send a warning or take action such as cutting a connection suspected of being infected with ransomware.

SECuring devices and credentials

The Synology C2 Identity platform continues to grow with a focus on pairing good security practices with convenience. In 2023, C2 Identity will be upgraded to enable passwordless login to online and local services and devices. Integration with Windows Hello and Face ID/Touch ID Apple makes it easier for authentication at the endpoint managed in C2 Identity.

And coupled to the upcoming C2 Identity user portal, employees using manageable endpoints can automatically log in to a web service that supports SAML, with the option to enable 2FA for more sensitive services such as the company's ERP or CRM systems.
