JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) updated the number of victims who died in an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 that rocked Cianjur, West Java, Monday, November 21 this afternoon. "Update the number of victims received by the BNPB Pudalops at 18.30 to 53 deaths. Most victims are in Cilaku District, Rancagoong Village, Cianjur District, Limbangsari Village and Cugenang District," said BNPB information quoted from its official Instagram @bnpb_indonesia, Monday night. In addition, there were 78 people injured and 3,895 people displaced spread over several evacuation points. "Meanwhile, several roads in the Cianjur Horse Tapal area were covered by landslides," wrote BNPB. As previously reported, the Acting Head of the BMKG Earthquake and Tsunami Center, Daryono, explained that this earthquake was located at coordinates 6.86 degrees South Latitude - 07.01 degrees East Longitude, or precisely located on land in the Sukalarang area, Sukabumi, West Java at a depth of 11 km. “ With regard to the location of the epicenter and the depth of the hypocenter, the earthquake that occurred was a shallow earthquake due to Cimandiri fault activity. The results of the analysis of the source mechanism show that the earthquake has a sliding movement mechanism (strike-slip),” said Daryono.
