MANADO - Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Bintang Puspayoga stated that World Children's Day (HAS) 2022 is a momentum to appreciate the participation and involvement of children in the nation's development.

"One of the basic rights that must be fulfilled and protected by the State, and is one of the basic principles in protecting children is to respect children's views or children's participation," he said on World Children's Day 2022 as reported by Antara in Manado, North Sulawesi, Sunday, November 20.

He said HAS was a day to celebrate the rights of children and Indonesia had ratified KHA since 1990, which in an effort to fulfill these participation rights, KPPPA created a forum for children's participation in development called Children'.

The Children's Forum has now been formed as many as 2,694 at the village/kelurahan level, 1,625 at the sub-district level, 458 at the district/city level, and 34 at the provincial level, which it is hoped that all children who are members can encourage the development process in Indonesia to be more participatory, inclusive and child-friendly.

It should not just be a sweetener'for us adults. However, the Child Forum is expected to ensure the involvement of children which is more meaningful in the development process," he said.

According to him, HAS 2022 is happiness because children can convey their thoughts directly in front of stakeholders. The government really appreciates the various valuable suggestions obtained.

Through these voices, all parties present by the government can collaborate to consider and make it happen.

For us, because you, children, are the best advocates for your own group. You are the ones who know the most important child issues that must be resolved immediately and solutions to various child problems," he said.

He added that the fulfillment of children's special rights and protection is a responsibility that must be realized together, including all things and decisions related to children, must involve children's participation.

Through organizing the ASEAN Children's Forum 7th and World Children's Day, Bintang invites all parties to continue to promote children's rights and encourage children from both ASEAN countries and from all over Indonesia to inspire and dialogue with each other.

He hopes that this time can also be a momentum to practice various positive concrete actions and contribute to creating a better world.

"I congratulate World Children's Day. On behalf of the Indonesian Government, once again I would like to express my appreciation and gratitude to the Provincial Government of North Sulawesi, the City Government of Manado and the Tomohon City Government, and all parties who have been actively involved in organizing this activity," said Bintang Puspayoga.
