Ahead Of The 48th Congress In Solo, Anwar Abbas Talks About Mental Muhammadiyah Residents: Must Hijrah To Entrepreneur Mentality

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Central Executive (PP) Anwar Abbas believes that Muhammadiyah in the future must be able to move its citizens to become a mental entrepreneur from an employee's mental culture. "The heavy task that is held on the shoulders of Muhammadiyah's future leadership is how they can move culture and mentality from some of the administrators and citizens, from employee mentality to entrepreneur mentality," said Anwar Abbas in a written statement received in Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, November 17. According to him, if that could happen, Muhammadiyah's desire to build civilization would certainly be easier because it has financial strength to support its goals and objectives. Muhammadiyah can be said to have advanced in the field of education and social services. "This is evident from the large number of business charities in both fields, whether it is in the form of schools, universities, hospitals, clinics, orphanages, and Lazismu networks in the field of philanthropy," he said. Nevertheless, he continued, Muhammadiyah's economy and business did not seem to be very prominent even though in the financial sector Muhammadiyah had several business charities in the form of BPRS and BTM (Baitut Tamwil Muhammadiyah) and in the real sector Muhammadiyah had several hotels, gas stations, oil palm fields, recreational parks and others, but the size was still relatively small. In the 47th congress in Makassar in 2015, Muhammadiyah had prepared the third pillar, namely economic and business pillars in addition to the existing pillars of education and health services. Selama periode 2015-2020/2022 berbagai usaha dan upaya sudah dilakukan, tapi tampaknya belum begitu berhasil sesuai dengan yang diharapkan. "This is closely related to cultural and mental issues. The dominant mentality in muhammadiyah is that the employee mentality is not yet entrepreneural mentality," he said. Through the 48th Muhammadiyah congress in Solo, Central Java, he hopes that Muhammadiyah can be even more serious in building and developing the third pillar that he carried seven years ago.
