Pregnant Women Were Rejected By Hospitals In Bantaeng, Jeneponto, Takalar And Makassar, And Finally Died

BULUKUMBA- A pregnant woman (24) from Bulukumba Regency, South Sulawesi, breathed her last at Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital Makassar.

This mother was allegedly rejected by a number of hospitals when she wanted to be treated intensively.

"At 9pm at night, on the 9th he died," a relative of the deceased, who declined to be identified, was contacted by VOI, Friday, December 11.

Relatives said that the deceased was taken to the nearest Puskesmas. This pregnant woman was then referred to a hospital in Bantaeng then to Jeneponto, Takalar and Makassar hospital. The hospitals in question are Labuang Baji Hospital, Kartini Hospital, Ananda Hospital, and Pelamonia Hospital. Arriving at Wahidin General Hospital, this pregnant woman passed away.

"He was not treated, he was immediately taken to the hospital. Initially to the puskesmas but was sent to Bantaeng. He said it was full so he was sent again to Jeneponto, Takalar, Makassar. In Makassar there were 5 who refused," said a relative.

"I also don't know the reason why it was rejected in Bantaeng," he continued.

VOI has tried to contact the South Sulawesi Health Office via WhatsApp messages and telephone. But there has been no response.
