Russia Calls The Burst In Poland Due To Ukraine's Air Defense Missile, The S-300 Sigung

JAKARTA - Russia's Defense Ministry said on Wednesday the explosion in Polish territory on Tuesday was caused by Ukraine's air defense missiles, saying their attack was no closer than 35 kilometers from the Polish border.

"Photos published on the night of November 15 in Poland of debris found in Przewodow Village, were explicitly identified by Russian defense industry specialists as anti-aircraft missile elements of Ukraine's S-300 air defense system," RIA news agency quoted a Defense Ministry statement as saying, as quoted November 16.

Furthermore, the Defense Ministry said Russia had not carried out an attack targeting the Ukrainian-Poland border zone.

"The mass media and Polish officials carried out intentional provocations, to escalate the situation with their statements about the alleged impact of the 'Russian' rocket in Przewodow," the ministry said.

"Russian firing did not launch an attack on the area between the Ukrainian-Poland border," the ministry continued.

The Defense Ministry said Russian forces carried out high-precision attacks only on Ukrainian targets within the Ukrainian territory, at a distance not more than 35 km from the Ukrainian-Poland border.

As previously reported, Poland said on Wednesday, a Russian rocket killed two people in eastern Poland near Ukraine.

Poland's Foreign Ministry said the rocket crashed Tuesday afternoon in Przewodow, a village in eastern Poland about 6 kilometers from the border with Ukraine, killing two people.

The Polish president said his party did not yet have conclusive evidence to show who fired the missiles, adding that Warsaw remained calm in the face of what he described as "one incident".

"We don't have any conclusive evidence at this time regarding who launched this missile. Most likely it was a Russian-made missile, but this is all still under investigation at this time," President Andrzej Duda told reporters.
