Meanwhile, recent sanctions target 23 Russians "who are involved in gross and systematic human rights violations against Russian opposition leaders," including police officers, prosecutors, judges and prison officers.
"This new sanction will add to the pressure on those who support this war action. Together with other members of the international community, we will continue to use every tool we have to hold Russia accountable for its brutal actions against Ukraine," said PM Trudeau.
It said that since Russia's invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, Canada has imposed sanctions on more than 1,400 individuals and entities involved in Russia's legal invasion of Ukraine, including the latest.
