JAKARTA - The Ministry of Religion's Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH) held a Halal 20 (H20) forum in Semarang on November 17, 2022, and invited 104 halal institutions from 40 countries.

"In addition, a number of ambassadors and representatives of ministries/institutions that influence halal product guarantees have also confirmed that they will attend the H20," said Head of BPJPH of the Ministry of Religion, Aqil Irham in Jakarta, Monday, November 14, as reported by Antara.

The 20 Halal forum is part of the G20 Presidency with the theme Global Halal Partnership for a Robust Sustainable Future.

Vice President Ma'ruf Amin is scheduled to be a keynote speaker at the forum.

According to Aqil, the implementation of H20 aims to strengthen, promote, and develop cooperation in guarantees for halal products (JPH) in the global market on the basis of mutual understanding, acceptance, and benefit.

"Therefore, in this forum there will also be the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) between BPJPH and a number of LHLN witnessed by Vice President Ma ruf Amin," he said.

The H20 Forum will also discuss a number of global issues related to guaranteeing halal products, including the rule of mutual acceptance of halal certification for accelerating export cooperation for product imports.

"This forum is expected to give birth to a joint strategy to increase the productivity of the global halal market," said Aqil.

Aqil said the Halal Product Guarantee Cooperation (JPH) was one of the important issues in the implementation of JPH in Indonesia. Moreover, currently JPH is a global trend. Therefore, international cooperation related to guaranteeing halal products becomes a necessity.

"Halal issues have become a lifestyle for people. It is no longer an issue of religion, but as a global standard," he said.
