Motorcycle Thief In Gambir Shot Dead By Police

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya officers shot dead a motorcycle thief with the initials HR because he fought officers with a firearm during an arrest.

"When HR and ML were about to be secured, one of them took out a homemade firearm and tried to immobilize the officer. Because it endangered the officers' lives, measured decisive action was taken, the HR perpetrator died when he was taken to the hospital," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Yusri. Yunus at the Metro Jaya Regional Police Headquarters, Thursday.

Yusri explained that the arrests of the two began with reports of the public being victims of motor vehicle theft in the Gambir area, Central Jakarta.

Based on this report, the police conducted an investigation and processed the crime scene that led to the two perpetrators. The police then arrested the two of them in the Cengkareng area, West Jakarta.

ML claims to be a jockey, while one other actor, namely HR, has a role as executor or picker.

Yusri said the two perpetrators often targeted residents' motorbikes parked in the yard of the house with the key capital "T".

The HR suspect also often carried a firearm during his actions and did not hesitate to injure his victim if he was caught while stabbing a motorcycle.

For his actions, the suspect ML was charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning theft by force with the threat of seven years in prison.

Meanwhile, HR's body has been returned to the family for burial.

"One body of the suspect who died has also been taken by the perpetrator's family," he concluded.
