JAKARTA - No longer millions or billions, this man caught a windfall by winning a lottery lottery worth tens of trillions of rupiah.

A Powerball player in California, United States holds the only winning ticket to be sold for a $2.04 billion bonus or around IDR 31.566.858.000.000.

The lottery gaming website announced Tuesday last week, the winner ended a series of 40 unwinnerable draw, bringing the accumulated number of prizes to record.

Ticket holders, whose identities were not disclosed, have the option of taking a total of 997.6 million US dollars in cash or receiving a full sum of 29 annual payments.

The ticket was sold at the Joe's Service Center in Altadena, California, about five miles (8 km) north of Pasedena, Los Angeles County.

Opportunities to match the six numbers in the draw, 10, 33, 41, 47, 56 and 10, are 1 in 292.2 million.

The previous record forten Powerball was recorded in 2016, when three ticket holders from California, Florida, and Tennessee shared a grand prize of $1.59 billion.

$2.04 billion worth of Powerball ranks as a world record, for the grand prize of lottery, according to media reports.

The draw, which was scheduled for 10:59 pm on Monday last week, was delayed for hours when at least one of the 48 lottery participating states needed more processing time, according to a tweet from Lotre California. It does not identify the state in question.

Officials of the Multi-National Lote Commission, which oversees the draw for Powerball, could not be reached by Reuters for comment.
