Bawaslu: Thanks To Massive Socialization, Voters' Awareness Of Health Protocol Discipline Is Quite Good

JAKARTA - The General Election Supervisory Agency noted that the massive socialization carried out by election organizers and the government succeeded in making the health protocol discipline implemented quite well on the election day for the 2020 Concurrent Regional Head Election.

Member of Bawaslu, Coordinator of the Supervision and Socialization Division, Mochammad Afifuddin, said that Bawaslu made a number of quick notes on the results of the monitoring of voting day which was held on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 yesterday.

"The massive socialization carried out by election organizers and the government, supported by voters' awareness of the prevention of COVID-19 transmission, has made the voting and counting process run in a fairly well-disciplined health protocol," he said as quoted by Antara, Thursday, December 10.

Voters who attended, said Afifuddin, followed the KPU's provisions, namely striving to be present at predetermined hours, wearing masks, maintaining distance and not creating crowds after using their voting rights.

The number of voters who attend the TPS and exercise their voting rights in general can be regulated and controlled by the election organizer from the opening of the TPS to the recapitulation of votes.

"On another note, the challenge of implementing voting is influenced by the health status of members of the polling committee (KPPS) and polling supervisors (PTPS)," said Afif.

According to him, there are some reactive election organizers based on the COVID-19 antibody rapid test. This reduces the number of organizers at the TPS.

This condition, said Afif, also affected the implementation of voting and vote counting as well as public participation.

"But it did not significantly interfere with the election procession," he said.
