Bareskrim Calls CV Samudera Chemical Supply Of DEFected Medicines EG And DEG To Three Companies

The National Police's Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) said that the raw materials for soluting sirop drugs contained eltylene glycol (EG) and dietilen glykol (DEG) beyond the threshold for three pharmaceutical companies. The company includes PT Afi Farma Pharmaceutical Industry, PT Universal Pharmaceutical Industries, PT Yarindo Farmatama.

"AF, UPI and Yarindo," said Director of Certain Crimes at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency Brigadier General Pipit Rismanto when contacted, Saturday, November 12.

CV Chemical Samudera is known to mix propylene glycol (PG) with eltylene glycol (EG) and dietilen glycol (DEG) with no proper dose.

From a temporary investigation, the solvent of the drug or PG from the CV Chemical Samudera contains EG and DEG contamination up to 30 percent.

In fact, the company is suspected of mixing the solvent drug with other dangerous ingredients

"It turned out that CV SC was found to be a supplier but mixed from PG, it turned out that there were 30 percent of EG and DEG content," said Pipit.

Previously, BPOM and Bareskrim Polri found chemical compounds that destroyed the kidneys, EG and DEG, in drums with PG identities in banana plantations in Depok, West Java.

"BPOM took samples of chemicals for laboratory testing, the results showed 12 samples with PG identities detected containing EG and DEG which were very far from required," said Head of BPOM Penny K. Lukito.

Around 59 drums containing dangerous chemicals were found in two semi-permanent warehouses on Jalan Damai RT02 RW13, Tapos Village, Tapos District, Depok.

Based on the results of BPOM's search with the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, it is known that the EG/DEG compound, which is now associated with the incidence of acute kidney problems in Indonesia, is known to be managed and owned by CV Samudera Chemical as a distributor of medicinal raw materials.
