Jokowi Orders The Coordinating Minister For Political, Legal And Security Affairs To Solve Past Human Rights Violations

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo said that the government has never stopped resolving past human rights violations.

This completion, he said, was also carried out wisely and with dignity so that it could be accepted by any party and supported by other parties.

"The government has never stopped resolving past human rights issues wisely and with dignity," said Jokowi during the opening of an online event to commemorate World Human Rights Day 2020 which was broadcast on YouTube, Thursday, December 10.

In resolving human rights violations, the government asks for the support of all parties. "We must work together to solve it and devote our energy to the progress of the nation," added the former Governor of DKI Jakarta.

Furthermore, Jokowi said he had ordered the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD to resolve this issue.

"Through the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, I have assigned that the resolution of past human rights problems be continued and the results can be accepted by all parties as well as the international community," he said.

The process of resolving past human rights violations, he continued, needs to be carried out. Because he claims to be committed to protecting, respecting, and fulfilling human rights so that Indonesia becomes an advanced and civilized nation.

"We have the same commitment that respect for the protection and fulfillment of human rights is an important pillar for Indonesia to become a more civilized, resilient and advanced nation," he concluded.
