Bawaslu Finds Officers Who Are Positive COVID-19 But Still Come To TPS

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) found members of the polling organization (KPPS) who were positive for COVID-19 but still visited the polling stations (TPS).

Member of Bawaslu RI Mochammad Afifuddin said this was reported by his staff in the online application of the General Election Supervision System (Siwaslu).

"There are KPPS exposed to COVID-19 that are still present at the TPS. This happened at 1,172 polling stations," said Afif in a live broadcast broadcast on YouTube by Bawaslu RI, Wednesday, December 9.

In fact, the KPU has regulations that regulate if a TPS officer is infected with the corona virus, then their job duties are replaced by other KPPS members.

"This needs to be further confirmed regarding the situations that occur on the ground, including how long after COVID-19 they will continue to carry out their duties," said Afif.

In addition, Bawaslu also found incomplete voting logistics equipment. This happened at 1,803 polling stations.

Then, there are 1,454 polling stations that do not have hand washing facilities. In fact, this is one of the KPU's health protocol policies to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.

"Then, there were 1,727 polling stations that did not install DPT (final voter list). In fact, all of these should have been installed. However, situations like this always repeat themselves," said Afif.

Furthermore, there were 1,983 polling stations that did not post information on the list of candidate pairs containing the vision-mission and programs, as well as a brief bio on the TPS announcement board. Then, there were 1,487 polling stations where witnesses used the attributes of pairs of candidates.

Furthermore, there were 5,513 polling stations that were opened after the specified time. The TPS should have opened at 07.00 local time. "Most of the TPS late were influenced by the missing equipment," he said.
