BLT BBM Is Considered Ampuh Protects The Poor In The Midst Of Economic DIFFICULTs

Political observer Lucius Karus assesses that Direct Cash Assistance for fuel oil is very beneficial for the poor who are affected by the fuel price adjustment.

Lucius hopes that this BBM BLT will continue to be maintained until there is a new policy that will provide more benefits to the entire community.

"This BLT is indeed quite effective in calming public anxiety, especially the underprivileged," said Lucius, quoted on Sunday, November 6.

Lucius considered BLT BBM as a reactive policy. However, he said the policy was able to reduce turmoil due to difficult economic conditions.

Furthermore, Lucius also said that BLT BBM can be relied on to deal with inflation to a recession. BLT, he said, became a kind of sedative to reduce turmoil.

"The government's steps to change fuel subsidies to BLT can also be considered a populist step," he said.

It is known, BLT BBM is given to approximately 20.6 million beneficiary families (KPM) and is expected to maintain people's purchasing power.

In addition to BLT BBM, the government will also distribute aid to around 16 million workers with a value of IDR 600,000.

Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani Indrawati said that the assistance was a form of diversion.
