Flood Back To Trenggalek, Diperparah Air Pasang

JATIM - Flash floods again hit a number of areas in the southern coastal area of Trenggalek Regency, East Java (East Java).

The flood with a height of up to one meter from the overflow of the Bungur, Sentolo and Sungai Tawing rivers submerged hundreds of houses in three villages in Munjungan District on Saturday 5 November until this morning.

Floods sent from mountainous areas triggered by heavy rains became even worse because the sea water was high. As a result, the flow of rivers towards the estuary has become not smooth.

"The flood began to occur in the middle of the night, at around 24.00 WIB and gradually receded in the morning," said Head of Munjungan Sub-district Yusuf Widharto, confirmed by the media crew, Sunday, November 6. There have been no reports of casualties. Until this news was written, Widharto said the joint team was still identifying in the field.

"In the meantime, we have not received any reports of residents displaced. To be sure, we will still carry out identification in the field, including all aspects affected. Because it happened just last night, so it is still being checked and recorded in the field what conditions it is," he said.

This flash flood is the second in the past week. Similar floods previously also hit the Munjungan District area on Friday, November 4.

In the first incident, based on Antara's report, as many as four villages were affected by floods and landslides. The villages that were submerged at that time included Tawing, Bangun, Munjungan, and Bendoroto villages.

Floods that submerged almost all day at that time resulted in many bridge infrastructure connectivity being cut off, apart from hundreds of houses being submerged for thousands of people affected.

The damaged bridge infrastructure, including access connecting Munjungan District and Watulimo District. The bridge on the inter-district route completely broke. In addition to flooding, landslides also closed the main road access to Munjungan via Kampak District. The disaster had made residents of Munjungan District threatened with isolation, because the remaining exit access could only be reached through the Munjungan - Panggul route with a fairly long distance. The infrastructure on the route is also still badly damaged.

Apart from the Munjungan area, the flood on Friday morning also occurred in Watulimo District. A total of four affected villages, namely Tasikmadu, Sawahan, Prigi, and Karanggandu villages.

As a result of what was caused, including the cut off of the bridge, the only link between hamlets in the Sawahan Village area.

As many as 3,200 people were isolated, finally residents made an emergency bridge out of bamboo.

There were eight villages from the two sub-districts that were affected by the flood last Friday. Meanwhile, last night there were three villages affected by flooding in Munjungan District covering Munjungan, Tawing and Masaran villages.

"In Munjungan, the Bungur River overflows onto roads to settlements with a height of approximately one meter, the Sentolo River in Tawing is also the same and the river in Masaran, the conditions are also overflowing," said Secretary of BPBD Trenggalek, Tri Puspita Sari.
