JAKARTA - The City Government (Pemkot) of East Jakarta (Jaktim) has relocated street vendors (PKL) selling on the East Flood Canal Inspection Road (KBT), Duren Sawit District.

East Jakarta Mayor Muhammad Anwar said the relocation was carried out because the existence of street vendors interfered with the function of roads for residents' activities and made slum environments.

"The government must be present to organize there, so that people feel safe, comfortable in that place," said Muhammad Anwar, quoted from ANTARA, Friday, November 4.

Anwar added that his party is trying to relocate the street vendors of DKI Jakarta residents who sell at KBT to temporary development locations (pengusem).

Head of the East Jakarta Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), Budhy Novian, said that his party would conduct temporary arrangements regarding the existence of street vendors who were complained by the public.

This is in accordance with DKI Jakarta Provincial Regulation Number 8 of 2007 concerning Public Order.

Not only that, the East Jakarta Satpol PP will also conduct zoning socialization related to locations that are temporarily allowed to trade and those that are not allowed.

Along the inspection road, a red and left zone has been determined. For the green zone behind the Gendong channel.

"Please use it. So they (PKL) must share it with their colleagues, don't take the stall too wide and so on," said Budhy.
