Child The Case Of A Self-Determination Cellphone Thief In Palembang Children's Prison, Family Contact Police

The police evacuated the body of a prisoner who died hanging himself at the Class 1A Pakjo Special Correctional Institution (Lapas), Palembang, South Sumatra (Sumsel).

West Ilir 1 Palembang Police Chief Kompol Rian Suhendi, said the detainee had the initials RA (16), a resident of the Flats, West Ilir 1, Palembang.

RA was found dead hanging in his detention room, Block 12, with his neck tied in a cloth.

"This incident was discovered at around 07.15 WIB by a witness at the Child Prison named R (35)," he said when confirmed in West Sumatra, quoted from Antara, Friday, November 4.

To the police, witness R admitted that at that time he, who was carrying out a control picket schedule to each detention room, did not find any suspicious signs from the direction of RA's room.

After finding RA dead by hanging himself, the officer concerned immediately rushed to report to his superior and this incident was handled by the police.

According to him, RA is a prisoner related to the theft of cellphones who served a sentence of 10 months in prison at the Class 1A Pakjo Special Children's Prison, Palembang.

Then, for the last 24 days or since October 11, 2022, prison officials are isolating in Block 12 Room because the victim is sick who is being treated by the medical team.

"Currently, the victim's body has been taken to Bhayangkara M Hasan Hospital in Palembang for the benefit of the police. Now the police have coordinated with the victim's family," he said.
