Former Managing Director Of Trans Jakarta, Entangled In Embezzlement

JAKARTA - The former Managing Director of TransJakarta, Donny Saragih, is involved in a case of alleged embezzlement of Rp1.4 billion of money belonging to PT Eka Sari Lorena Transport. The case took place in 2018.

Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus said the suspicion of embezzlement began when Donny served as manager of PT Eka Sari Lorena Transport. At that time, the company where Donny worked had to pay a fine.

"For the payment of fines related to busway operations (TransJakarta) amounting to Rp1.4 billion," said Yusri in Jakarta, Tuesday, January 28.

Then, Donny also paid the fine by using several checks periodically. However, when it was about to be cashed, the bank refused on the grounds that the check was empty.

Transjakarta, represented by their attorney, Artanta Barus, then reported the crime of fraud and embezzlement. The report has been registered under the number LP / 5008 / IX / 2018 / PMJ / Dit. Reskrimum, 18 September 2018.

"There were 8 checks which he said were all blank. A total of around Rp1.4 billion and reported by the victim," said Yusri.

After more than a year has passed, the investigation process is still ongoing. However, investigators were constrained when they wanted to examine Donny. This is because during the two interrogation summons, the man did not answer the summons.

However, he emphasized, if investigators later cast a third summons but Donny did not attend. So, it is possible that investigators will forcibly summon.

"(Can be summoned forcefully) oh yeah. Currently it is still in the investigation stage," said Yusri.

In fact, it is said, investigators have pocketed one key witness who will later be able to reveal all the allegations of fraud and embezzlement. However, currently it is still constrained by several things.

"Indeed, there are several, including one key witness who we still cannot address. We are still exploring and clarifying the invitation to Donny," said Yusri.

For your information, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's BUMD (BP) officially revoked and canceled the appointment of Donny Saragih as the Managing Director of Trans Jakarta, Monday, January 27.

The revocation and cancellation were reasonable because Donny was proven to have declared something untrue for his interest in following the selection process as BUMD's board of directors.
