JAKARTA - Head of the Archipelago Capital Authority (IKN) Bambang Susantono said the population in the new capital city will reach 200 thousand by 2024 so that it is enough to attract investors in doing business and investing.

"We will also create a sufficient population for investors to do business," said Bambang at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, November 2.

Bambang said that as many as 200 thousand residents are the total number of all elements of society who will live in IKN in 2024. There are four elements of society who will live in IKN in 2024, namely State Civil Apparatus (ASN), TNI-Polri apparatus, local residents, and the employees.

"All. We don't separate, all IKN residents," he said.

According to Bambang, the government is looking for a population that reflects adequate purchasing power so that investors will be more interested in building IKN.

"Anyway, we are looking for numbers that are attractive enough for the private sector to consider that there is purchasing power," he said.

The population at IKN in 2024, he said, would also include support personnel for health and education facilities. Therefore, the government is currently building supporting infrastructure to meet the living needs of the IKN population in 2024.

“There are schools, teachers, and others. Then there is the hospital, the clinic has a nurse, that must also be accommodated. Later we will see the map like that, so that later it will be developed not only for ASN, TNI-Polri, but also like that," he said.

Currently, Bambang explained, the physical infrastructure development at IKN already includes access to logistics, raw water suppliers, and mapping of land plots.

The land lots, he said, were prepared for mapping to attract investors.

"Then everything can be ready, later investors will see 'oh where do I want to go', we must be able to show that," he said.

Meanwhile, massive physical infrastructure development at IKN will begin in January 2023 in line with the number of project tender contracts that will be signed at the end of 2022.
