Tok! Former Village Head In NTB For Budget Corruption, Dihukum Village 5 Years

JAKARTA - The Corruption Court of Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara, sentenced Ramlin, the former Head of Waduruka Village in a corruption case in budget management for the 2017-2018 period.

"Sentenced the defendant Ramlin to 5 years in prison in accordance with the primary indictment from the public prosecutor," said Chief Judge Dedek Dedy Arcana, Wednesday, November 2.

Ramlin was proven to have violated Article 2 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law no. 20/2001 jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code jo. Article 65 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.

In addition to punishment, the judge also imposed a fine of Rp. 50 million, subsidiary of 3 months in prison.

The judge also charged the defendant to pay most of the compensation for state losses with a value of Rp. 390 million out of a total of Rp. 552 million as a result of an audit by the NTB Representative Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP).

"If the defendant's valuable property is not sufficient to pay state losses, the defendant must replace it with imprisonment for 2 years," he said, quoted by Antara.

In the criminal decision, the judge stated that Ramlin had jointly agreed to commit a criminal act of corruption in managing the village fund budget.

The parties called the judge had an agreement with Ramlin were the defendant Ayub (former Secretary of Waduruka Village) and Syarifuddin (former Treasurer of Waduruka Village).

For the defendants Ayub and Syarifuddin, the judge stated that the actions of the two were proven in the primary indictment in accordance with the prosecutor's demands.

However, the verdict handed down by the judges to the two defendants was lower than Ramlin.

For Ayub, the judge sentenced him to 3 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 50 million, subsidiary to 3 months in prison.

For Syarifuddin, the judge sentenced him to 4 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 50 million, subsidiary to 3 months in prison.

Syarifuddin's sentence in his role as village treasurer was higher than Ayub because he was proven to enjoy the village fund budget. The judge also charged Syarifuddin to pay compensation for state losses worth Rp. 98 million, subsidiary to 1 year in prison.

This case came from the results of the investigation by the Bima City Police. Investigators revealed the roles of the three defendants based on the results of a case title that had found indications of unlawful acts in managing the village fund budget in 2017-2018.

The three of them committed criminal acts of corruption by making fictitious accountability in managing the village budget. This was also revealed from the findings of the inspectorate.
