JAKARTA - The Directorate General (Ditjen) of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights has optimized the flow of foreign tourist arrivals. In the near future, Immigration will invite all cruise ship agents operating in Indonesian waters.

Plt. Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Widodo Ekatjahjana said the effort was a follow-up to the implementation of immigration on shipping.

"We invite all ship agents to find out the schedule for the arrival of cruise ships to the port," Widodo said in a written statement, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, November 2.

Immigration on shipping is known to process immigration checks carried out directly on board the ship while sailing to Indonesia.

According to Widodo, the optimization of the flow of foreign tourist arrivals was carried out by collaborating with cruise ship operators.

"This is done in order to move the tourism sector through immigration policies that provide stimulants," he said.

In addition to optimizing the flow of tourist arrivals, the security guarding aspect of immigration is also an attention. In other words, the task and function of maintaining security and law enforcement must continue to run according to existing regulations.

Widodo encourages law enforcement to be carried out with humanist nature, especially when immigration officers communicate with foreign nationals (WNA) and Indonesian citizens (WNI) in the area of arrival of airports and seas.

Another aspect that needs to be considered, he added, is that immigration officials must be able to create a comfortable atmosphere and show friendly gestures. According to him, this is in line with the adjustment of immigration function priorities during the national economic recovery period.

Widodo said that after the pandemic, in essence, immigration was required to increase its contribution to the aspect of service and facilitation of community economic development.

"We are coordinating with Pelindo so that we can find out if there are changes (operational) made," he said.
