JAKARTA - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday condemned terrorist groups, saying they used Islam as a pretext for dirty purposes.

"Are they called Daesh (ISIS), Boko Haram or FET men (G\"ulenist Terror Group), all these organizations are deviant and heretical structures that use our religion for their dirty purposes," President Erdogan said at a consultation meeting of district mufti in the capital Ankara, reported by Daily Sabah on November 1.

On the occasion, President Erdogan also offered his condolences to Somalia for the devastating car bombings over the weekend, causing 100 people to die.

Saturday's attack, which also injured more than 300 people, was claimed by the al-Shabab terrorist group, the deadliest group in the fragile African Horn country in five years.

It is known, Turkey often calls for increased global cooperation against the threat of terrorism. Ankara ranks first among the countries most facing attacks at the hands of ISIS.

The organization has carried out terrorist attacks on Turkey both at home and abroad. A total of 309 civilians and security forces have been killed, as well as 1,338 injured in suicide bombings, other bombings and gun attacks by ISIS, which have carried out 20 attacks on Turkey since 2014.
