KoTAWARINGIN - West Kotawaringin Resort Police (Polres), Central Kalimantan Province, arrested two perpetrators of illegal logging in this area. "We managed to secure the two perpetrators in Melawen Village, Pangkalan Lada District last Saturday at around 11.00 WIB," said Head of Operations Section (Kabag Ops) AKP Rendra Aditya Dani in Pangkalan Bun quoted from Antara, Monday, October 31. He explained that the two perpetrators, namely Khairul Anam and Anom Priyo Nugrohon, were secured by officers while transporting bengkira type forest wood. "From the perpetrator's statement, the wood was obtained from Lamandau Regency. As for the types of wood that we have secured, there are approximately 21 cubic meters," said Rendra. Before making the arrest, his staff first checked the document in the form of a Forest Product Sah Certificate (SKSHH) and it turned out that the document was not in accordance with what was in the field. "The plan is that the wood will be sent to Java by ship or ferry," said Rendra. During this arrest, the West Kotawaringin Police managed to secure a six-wheeled tronton truck, 21 cubic wood type bengkiri, and SKSHH documents as evidence for criminal acts of illegal logging. "The two perpetrators are subject to Article 83 paragraph 1 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 18 of 2013 concerning Prevention and Eradication of Forest Destruction with a minimum prison sentence of 1 year and a maximum of 5 years," said Rendra Aditya Dani. Regarding the incident, the police will investigate cases of illegal logging and carry out developments to find out whether other people are involved in this case. He asked the public to participate in monitoring by reporting to the officers if they found activities suspected of violating the law so that further action could be taken immediately.
