Canada Starts Vaccinating Its Citizens This Month

JAKARTA - The Canadian government will immediately hold vaccinations for its citizens. Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine will be injected before the end of December.

Hundreds of thousands of vaccine doses will arrive in Canada this month. Millions of other vaccine doses will follow in early 2021.

Launching CNA, Tuesday, December 8, the Canadian government claims the COVID-19 vaccination plan this year is proof that they are serious about dealing with COVID-19. This is also used to counter the narrative that Prime Minister (PM) Justin Trudeau is too slow.

Canada, in March has agreed on six million doses of vaccine from Pfizer and Moderna. That number is believed to be sufficient to inject three million people, with one person taking two doses of the vaccine about a month apart.

The vaccine, which is predicted to arrive early in the year, is actually faster. Trudeau said 249 thousand doses of the vaccine made by Pfizer-BioNTech SE will arrive this month. Others, three more doses will be delivered in early 2021.

"It has been a difficult year, and we are not out of this crisis. But now the vaccine is here," said Trudeau.

Trudeau also said health regulators are planning to approve the Pfizer vaccine this week. This is none other than so that the COVID-19 vaccine can be distributed to those who are most vulnerable to being exposed to COVID-19.

So far Canada has confirmed 423,057 cases of COVID-19 transmission. Among them, there were 12,777 deaths.
