Trump's Personal Attorney Is Positive For COVID-19, His Interaction Has Recently Highlighted

JAKARTA - The personal lawyer for the President of the United States (US) Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani has tested positive for COVID-19. Giuliani is being treated at Georgetown University Hospital.

This news was conveyed directly by Trump on Sunday, December 6 through his official Twitter account. Hours after Trump shared the news, Giuliani also confirmed his positive diagnosis, saying he was "very cautious and feeling good."

According to CNN, Monday, December 7, no additional details have yet been provided about his condition and it is not clear when Giuliani received a positive COVID-19 result. The former mayor of New York City has crossed various battlefield states, leading a legal battle to cancel the results of the 2020 US Presidential Election (Pilpres).

Giuliani has repeatedly ignored public health guidelines. He has also frequently appeared in public without a mask, such as in the capitol, hotel ballrooms and indoor press conferences in recent weeks.

At many events, most of the people indoors also do not wear masks. At some of these events, Giuliani was seen shaking hands, hugging and taking pictures with people without wearing a mask.

He was recently at the Georgia Capitol in Atlanta to attend a session of the Georgia State Senate. During the trial break, Giuliani took off the mask he was wearing to greet and take pictures with his supporters. He also traveled to Michigan for a state House committee hearing that lasted four and a half hours, during which he was not wearing a mask.

At the start of the week, Giuliani was in Arizona to discuss that the results of the 2020 US Presidential Election were fraudulent. Several hours before Trump announced his diagnosis, Giuliani was interviewed by Fox News but not in person.

The Trump Campaign Team said in a statement that Giuliani tested negative twice before his trips to Arizona, Michigan and Georgia last week. The Trump campaign team also added that Giuliani did not develop any symptoms or tested positive for COVID-19 until more than 48 hours after he returned.

The 76-year-old man is considered to be at high risk of complications from the corona virus because of his age. Giuliani has been traveling with Trump campaign lawyer Jenna Ellis, who has been by her side at all events regarding the 2020 elections last week.

Trump's campaign communications director, Tim Murtaugh, declined to comment on Giuliani's condition or whether Ellis tested positive or planned to go into quarantine. Last month, Giuliani's son Andrew, who is a White House staffer, tested positive for COVID-19 after attending a press conference for Trump's campaign law team with his father in Washington DC.

Giuliani avoided the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's quarantine guidelines after her son and close contact and campaign adviser Boris Epshteyn tested positive for COVID-19 in late November. On the day Epshteyn announced he had tested positive, Giuliani went to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, where he spoke to a group of state lawmakers in the hotel's busy ballroom.
