JAYAWIJAYA - Jayawijaya Resort Police in Papua will cooperate with TNI personnel when dispersing the crowd who gather at the Cross Monument every night. The masses often act anarchically and attack the police. Jayawijaya Police Chief AKBP Hesman Napitupulu said representatives of the regional government and members of the Civil Service Police Unit would also be involved later. "Because if you look at it, there will always be resistance in the dissolution by throwing stones at the authorities and it has been going on for two weeks," he said in Wamena, Papua, Antara, Monday, October 24. The police detected some anarchist residents who gathered in the Cross Monument who always consumed alcohol so they dared to attack back. "If action is taken, they will fight back. This is still being analyzed whether there are intentional elements designed to cause clashes or not," he said. The police see the need for local regulations regarding the use of the place because the area is very good for relaxing but is misused as a place for drinking. "This Cross Monument is like a square in every city that is used to hang out and as long as there is no commotion like a drinking party, we cannot prohibit it," he said. In the last two weeks the police forcibly dispersed the mass who were partying at the Cross Monument because it disturbed residents living around the location. "Actually, we don't want any clashes with the community because basically this situation must be maintained conducive," he said. Previously, due to public complaints regarding the mass commotion that gathered at the Cross Monument every night, the police forcibly dispersed but the masses attacked back even though there were no casualties from the two parties. However, the masses who did not accept it were forcibly dispersed, attacked the houses of local residents by throwing stones so that the windshields of the house and car windows.
