KPK Ready To Watch Mining Governance Improvements In NTT

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has asked for the management of mines in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) to be improved. This step is considered necessary in order to improve people's welfare and advance the national economy. This was conveyed by KPK Deputy Chair Alexander Marwata at the Coordination and Supervision Meeting at the Mining Sector in the NTT Province at the Palacio Hall Hotel Aston Kupang, Thursday, October 20. "Coordination between central and regional governments has the same goal in avoiding collisions in the future. And has the same vision and mission for mining management, so that it has added value for human resources in the area," Alex said as quoted in his written statement, Friday, October 21. Alexander reminded about Law Number 3 of 2020 regarding the delegation of some of the central government's mining management authority to the provincial government. According to him, this law should be a reference for the NTT Provincial Government (Pemprov) in making improvements to governance. Moreover, each mineral and coal mine should be transparent in its management and efficient. "The law emphasizes the importance of managing mineral and coal mining which can provide real added value to economic growth and national development," he stressed. The KPK ensures that it will conduct special monitoring of mining management in the NTT region. Alexander hopes that all parties participate so that good governance can be realized. "To anticipate the weakness of supervision due to the decentralization of mining authority, the KPK conducts special monitoring of mining management in the NTT region," he concluded.
