MANADO - Manado Center for Drug and Food Control (BBPOM), North Sulawesi encourages traditional drug businesses to register their products to obtain distribution permits. "Actually, there is a great opportunity for herbal potential in this area to also enter the industry," said Head of BBPOM Manado Hariani at the 'North Sulawesi Herbal Epidemic Branch' event in Manado, Antara, Thursday, October 20. According to him, there is still the reluctance of business actors to apply for distribution permits to BPOM so that their products are legal for several reasons, such as, difficult, complicated, too long, expensive, long process or having to contact anyone. In fact, he said, BBPOM Manado in recent years has intensively identified potential and provided assistance before the distribution permit for business actors was issued. "As with the results of the last three years, we have assisted household food products, many have received BPOM registration," he said. Therefore, Hariani hopes that after this discussion of the directed group or FGD, perceptions such as difficulty, expensive, long process, complicated and do not know who to meet, can be resolved. "In this discussion, BBPOM Manado presented relevant stakeholders in licensing, including herbal medicine researchers in this area. The hope is that there will be enlightenment for traditional drug business actors," he said. According to him, from the BBPOM database, business actors in this area only intend to register their products with BBPOM to obtain distribution permits. According to him, the previous time there were quite a lot of traditional herbal products, but had not registered with BPOM. In fact, after obtaining a distribution permit other than collateral as a business actor, the products can be distributed widely. Districts and cities in North Sulawesi have the potential for traditional medicines that can get distribution permits, such as in Sangihe Islands Regency, but the fact that no one has registered with BBPOM Manado. "There (Sangihe) has been a lot of research on herbs, but no one has registered yet. Therefore, we hope that business actors will register immediately so that traditional medicines can get distribution permits," he said.
