North Barito Regency Government Widening The Selokan To Handling Floods

JAKARTA - North Barito Regency Government, Central Kalimantan widened ditches in a number of residential areas that often flood due to long rains.

"We will make a ditch, currently the existing ditch is unable to accommodate the overflow of water," said Head of the North Barito Public Works and Spatial Planning Office M. Iman Topics in Muara Teweh, Tuesday, October 18, quoted from Antara.

Heavy rains that flushed Muara Teweh City on Monday night, October 17, resulted in several roads within the city of Muara Teweh and the residential area of residents experiencing flooding, although it only took a while because it receded soon.

Deputy Regent of North Barito Sugianto Panala Putra accompanied by the Head of PUPR Service M. Iman Topics and his staff, heads of other regional apparatus and their staff and representatives of BPBD, Central Teweh Sub-district Head, Lanjas Village Head and Melayu Village Head directly inspected several flood points.

In the first review in front of the Food Security and Fisheries Service (DKPP) of the Jalan A. Yani bridge, where he directly saw the sewer drain which was full of garbage so that floods entered residential areas behind the local BPJS Health office.

He and his entourage continued to check in front of the North Barito BPS office. When it rained for a relatively long time between 2-4 hours on Jalan A. Yani (in front of BPS), there were several houses that were flooded.

He also checked the suction engine on the Bangaris River Bridge.

The Head of PUPR M. Iman Topics also previously together with the Chairman of Commission III of the North Barito DPRD, Tajeri, accompanied by the Lurah Lanjas Nurhidayat, checked the settlements of residents affected by flooding from rainwater at RT 18 Jalan Permata Hijau 4 Jalan Jamrud and on Jalan Persemaian RT 25, Lanjas Village.
