Basarnas Expands The Search Space For Missing Fishermen In The Bengkulu Sea

JAKARTA - The Bengkulu National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) has expanded its territory and added a search team for fishermen who have been missing since Saturday, October 15 due to a ship accident. "Entering the search the third day we expanded the area and added personnel," said Head of Basarnas Bengkulu M. Arafah in Bengkulu City, Tuesday, October 18, as reported by Antara. He said that his party had increased the personnel divided into three teams, namely team one conducted a search using Basarnas' Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) with a search area of around 23 Nm.

Then, the second team conducted a search using a Rubber Boat with a search area of 18 Nm and a team of three using fishing boats with a search area of 20 Nm. "For the results of the second day the search was temporarily suspended, because it was night and there was still nothing. However, the team continues to monitor and search around the coast," he said. It is known, the chronology of the incident when on Saturday (15/10) at around 05.00 WIB the victim went to fish using a canoe in the Tapak Paderi Beach area Bengkulu and is expected to return the next day. However, until now the victim has not returned, so the family contacted Basarnas to help carry out the search.

In carrying out the search process, his party also coordinated with Polair Bengkulu, fishermen and local communities to assist in the search for victims.
