Jokowi Officially Cares For IndoVac, First COVID-19 Vaccine Made By Children Of The Nation

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) launched a domestically made COVID-19 vaccine called IndoVac produced by PT Bio Farma.

"This morning I launched the IndoVac vaccine produced by PT Bio Farma," said President Jokowi at the Head Office of PT Bio Farma, Bandung City, West Java, quoted from Antara, Thursday, October 13.

President Jokowi ensured that the vaccine production was produced from upstream to downstream in Indonesia. According to him, the vaccine is the hard work of young human resources (HR) in Indonesia.

"This takes time, IndoVac from the beginning until now 1.5 years, has been silent and has never spoken, suddenly became IndoVac," said President Jokowi.

At this time, according to him, Bio Farma can produce the IndoVac vaccine with a capacity of 20 million doses. Meanwhile, for 2023, he said, the IndoVac vaccine can be produced as many as 40 million doses.

For this reason, President Jokowi asked SOE Minister Erick Thohir and Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin who were also present at the launch site to continue encouraging Bio Farma to produce vaccines.

Thus, he hopes that Bio Farma can generate large income and Indonesia can have independence and enthusiasm for independence in meeting domestic vaccine needs.

"For the polio vaccine alone, Bio Farma controls 70 percent of the world's market share, 70 percent of which supply polio vaccines throughout the country, this is extraordinary," said President Jokowi.

In addition to launching the IndoVac vaccine, President Jokowi also reviewed the injection of the IndoVac vaccine to a number of residents. As for the Bio Farma Office, there are 15 people who will first receive the vaccine.
