BOGOR - The Bogor Regency Government, West Java, confiscated 1,553 packs of cigarettes that were traded without excise in the Cigombong District, Bogor. The confiscation was carried out today. "Since 2020, the regional government has been involved in taking action against excisable goods, in this case cigarettes. The local government seeks information, socialization then reports to Customs and Excise. So it remains under his authority in Customs and Excise," said Head of the Economic Section of the Bogor Regency Regional Secretariat (Setda), Emy Sriwahyuni in Cibinong, Antara, Tuesday, October 11. According to him, the thousands of cigarettes that were successfully confiscated were immediately handed over to the authorities, namely Bogor Customs and Excise, to be followed up. Emy said that the non-excisable illegal cigarette collectors were known to live in several rented houses in the Bogor Regency area. These illegal cigarettes have various brands, ranging from Gucci to Dubai. However, in the packaging of cigarettes there are no excise stamps, so it is confirmed that the circulation is illegal. Emy explained that the cigarettes had circulated in stalls around the confiscation location. The Bogor Regency Government immediately confiscated the cigarettes from the market. "If you don't pay excise duty, it's detrimental to the state. Because the income from cigarette excise duty is also used to finance BPJS, to development," said Emy. He appealed to the public to report if they found any circulation of cigarettes without excise, so that the authorities could take action.
