SULTRA - The joint SAR team has resumed the search for a man named Syaiful (29), who was reported missing in the current of the Konaweha River, Wonuakoa Village, South Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, on Sunday, October 10.

Head of the Kendari Basarnas Aris Sofingi said the search operation for Syaiful was carried out by involving rescue teams from various elements.

"The second day of the SAR operation against dangerous conditions for humans is one person who was swept away by the current in the Konaweha River, Wonuakoa Village, South Konawe Regency, carried out with various elements of the rescue team," he said in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, October 11.

He said the victim's family was also involved in the rescue team.

In conducting the search, the Kendari Basarnas divided into three teams, namely Team 1 using a rubber boat conducting a search covering an area of 1.9 km from the last location where the victim was reported missing.

Furthermore, Team 2 using a rubber boat conducted a search covering an area of 1.9 km where the distance from the last location of the victim was reported missing approximately 500 meters.

Meanwhile, Team 3 searched the outskirts of the Konaweha River as far as 300 meters from the last location, the victim was reported missing up to 500 meters.

Syaiful, who is a resident of Wonuakoa Village, has been reported to have left the house since Monday, October 10, using a motorbike to the Konaweha River to carry out sand mining activities. The victim's intended place with his house is about 1 km.

Arriving at the victim at the time, the victim swam across the river where while in the middle, the victim was dragged by the current and witnessed by other miners.

"Several residents who witnessed tried to provide assistance until when this information was received, the search was carried out with no results. Thus, further developments followed," said Aris.

In addition to family members, the joint SAR team for the search for sand miners included personnel from the Kendari Search and Rescue Office (KPP), Sabulakoa Police, Konawe BPBD, Wonuakoa Village apparatus, Sabulakoa Village apparatus, Tetenggabo Village apparatus, Sabulakoa District apparatus, the surrounding community and the victim's family.
