MATARAM - Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Mataram Police, Kompol Kadek Adi Budi Astawa, said the perpetrator with the initials AM, who allegedly killed a martial arts teacher named Muhdan, turned out to be suffering from a severe category of mental disorders. "In accordance with the results of a psychiatric post-mortem from a mental hospital, the perpetrator was declared to have a mental disorder in the severe category," said Kadek Adi in Mataram, NTB, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, October 11. With the results of the medical diagnosis, Kadek Adi assured that AM's perpetrators could not be held accountable for criminal acts. This is in accordance with the rules of Article 44 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code which states that it cannot be punished by anyone who does an act that cannot be accounted for to him because his reason is not perfect or hurts to change his mind. He also assured that his party was currently coordinating with the Mataram City Social Service to determine the follow-up to the results of the medical diagnosis of the AM perpetrators. "We are coordinating the location where the perpetrators will be placed so that in the future the perpetrators will not disturb the community again," he said. In this case, AM is suspected of carrying out the persecution that resulted in the victim's death. Victim Muhdan is AM's neighbor in the Taman Kampung neighborhood, Mataram City. The incident that occurred on Tuesday night, September 6, 2022, began with AM throwing bricks at the victim's food stall. The victim then reacted by chasing the perpetrator until a fight broke out. The perpetrator who fought back using a machete overwhelmed the victim and chose to run away. The victim fell into a ditch near his shop. This was then the opportunity for the perpetrator to persecute the victim with a machete. From the autopsy results, the victim was declared dead due to two fatal injuries to the back and left chest. The hospital stated that the wound was a sharp weapon. Regarding this murder incident, the police have carried out two crime scenes. The incident that resulted in the death of the victim has been corroborated by the testimony of witnesses.
