The Joint Team In Aceh Just Saves 1.4 Million Lifes, Sita 179 Kg Sabu

JAKARTA - A joint team from the Aceh Police, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Police, and Customs and Excise thwarted the smuggling of methamphetamine weighing 179 kilograms in East Aceh Regency.

The Aceh Police Chief, Inspector General Ahmad Haydar, explained that apart from thwarting the smuggling of methamphetamine, the joint team also arrested a suspected perpetrator.

"The perpetrator has the initials F, 31 years old, a resident of East Aceh. Apart from F, officers are still chasing another person who is now on the DPO (wanted list). Perpetrator F was arrested in East Aceh Regency on Thursday (6/10)," said Ahmad Haydar when releasing the case at the Aceh Police Headquarters, Monday, October 10, reported by Antara.

The two-star police chief said the disclosure of the drug smuggling began with information from the public. From this information, officers conducted an investigation and divided into two teams, namely sea and land.

The two teams searched the Kuala Leuge area, Peureulak District, East Aceh Regency. The team received information that the perpetrator entered the river on Wednesday (5/10) at around 19.00 WIB. Furthermore, on Thursday (6/10) at around 05.30 WIB, the team received reports that the network of perpetrators managed to move evidence to cars and motorbikes.

"The joint team then chased the network of perpetrators and arrested F in Beusa Seberang Village, Peureulak District, East Aceh Regency, while driving a car," said Ahmad Haydar.

During the search, the joint team found four burlap sacks and three bags containing methamphetamine weighing 179 kilograms. The joint team immediately secured drugs and the car driven by F.

From the results of the examination, F admitted to being a collector of goods. Group F is a Malaysian Indonesian drug network. The drugs were picked up from Malaysia through the waters of the Malacca Strait.

The Regional Police Chief added that the perpetrator was suspected of violating Article 114 in conjunction with Article 112 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with a maximum penalty of the death penalty.

The joint team involved in the disclosure of the drugs included the Directorate of Drug Investigation and the Directorate of Polairud of the Aceh Police, the Directorate of Drug Crimes at the National Police, the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) of the Riau Islands, and the Regional Office of DJBC Aceh, and BC Langsa.

"The disclosure of 179 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine has saved more than 1.4 million people from drug abuse. Now suspect F is being held at the Aceh Police Headquarters for further legal proceedings," said Ahmad Haydar.
