Mardiono Asked Jokowi To Comply As A Wantimpres Before The Focus Of The Acting Head Of PPP

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked Member of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) Muhammad Mardiono to complete all his duties before resigning because he was elected as the General Chair of the United Development Party (PPP) DPP.

"The president gave me a directive that was completed before I submitted a letter of resignation so that I could end my task well," said Mardiono after meeting President Jokowi at the Presidential Office, Jakarta, Monday, October 10.

Mardiono, in his capacity as a member of the Wantimpres, met with Jokowi to ask for directions because he had been elected as Plt. The general chairman of the PPP DPP during the PPP National Working Conference (Mukernas) on September 4, 2022. Mardiono said the law prohibits him from holding concurrent positions, so he chose to withdraw from Wantimpres.

According to the applicable regulations, according to him, there have been three months to submit resignations since being elected as Plt. Head of PPP.

"It's been three months since I became Plt. My PPP general chairman has to resign," he said as quoted by Antara.

During the meeting, Jokowi asked Mardiono to complete a study on the acceleration of rural economic development before retirement. Mardiono said there were 45 percent of the total village population living in 74,961 villages experiencing high-cost economic activities.

"Currently I am conducting the study as a member of the Wantimpres in charge of the people's welfare. Well, I haven't finished this yet. Therefore, the President (Jokowi) gave me directions so that it can be resolved first," he explained.

The Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) has ratified Muhammad Mardiono as Plt. General Chairperson of the PPP DPP with a term of service 2020-2025. The decree from the Kemeenkumham ratified Mardiono as the Acting Chairperson. The General Chairperson of the PPP DPP with an office position on Jalan Diponegoro Number 60, Central Jakarta.

The letter was signed by Menkumham Yasonna Laoly in Jakarta, Friday (9/9).

Based on the PPP Mukarnas on September 4, Mardiono was appointed as Plt. The General Chairperson of the PPP DPP replaces Suharso Monoarfa who currently serves as Minister of National Development Planning/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas).
