JAKARTA - BPBD Bogor Regency, West Java, installed manual sensors in areas prone to land shifts to carry out early detection.

"The censorship of land movement, so if there is a movement, it can be caught. We have installed a lot of them," said Head of BPBD Bogor Regency, Yani Hassan in Cibinong, Bogor, Monday, October 10.

Don't think the sensors installed are modern equipment. The sensors are just simple tools in the form of wood and ropes, but can provide indications if in the area where the device is installed there is a ground movement.

"Not a sophisticated tool, but in the form of wood, then installing cables, so if there is a movement (land) he attracts. The sensor does not mean using a camera and so on," he explained as quoted by Antara.

Yani said that his party had installed the equipment at many recorded points with the potential for a high shift in land.

Meanwhile, the Head of Emergency and Logistics of the Bogor Regency BPBD, Aris Nurjatmiko, said that as many as 22 of the 40 sub-districts in his area have medium to high potential for land shifts.

"Of the 40 sub-districts in Bogor Regency, four sub-districts have the potential to be medium-sized, 22 sub-districts have the potential to shift land," he said.

The sub-districts are Babakanmadang, Bojonggedu, Cariu, Ciawi, Cibinong, Cigudeg, Cileungsi, Cisarua, Citeureup, Gunungsindur, Jasinga, Jonggol, Klapanunggal, Leuwisadeng, Megamendung, Nanggung, Parung, Sukamakmur, Sukaraja, Tajurhalang, and Tanjungsari.

In addition, he also noted that there are 14 sub-districts that have medium-high potential for shifting land accompanied by flash floods or the flow of raw materials.

"The flow of raw materials or debris flow is a phenomenon where the mixture of water, mud, and gravel flows at high speeds carried by the flood flow," explained Aris.

The data was obtained by BPBD from the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation. The data is a common picture of the potential for land shifts from August to September 2022.

However, this condition is considered better than the previous months, because there is a reduction in several areas that have the potential to shift land.

So, Aris appealed to Bogor residents to always look at the land movement map uploaded by BPBD periodically on Instagram through the official BPBD account of Bogor Regency named @bpbdkabbogor.

"For areas that have this potential, they are always ready to face disasters. Prepare disaster preparedness bags so that they are always responsive in dealing with sudden disasters," he said.
