KPK Prevents 2 People From Foreign Affairs Regarding The Allegation Of Bribe Management Of The Riau BPN Regional Office Of HGU

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has prevented two people from traveling abroad regarding the investigation into the alleged bribery case for handling business rights (HGU) at the Regional Office (Kanwil) of the National Land Agency (BPN) of Riau Province.

"Regarding the investigation into the alleged bribery case related to the management of HGU at the Riau Province BPN Regional Office, the KPK has now sent a request for prevention to the Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights for two people not to travel abroad," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri, quoted from Antara, Monday, October 10.

The KPK did not specify who the parties had been prevented from going abroad. Ali said the preventive measures were carried out for the next six months until March 2023 as part of the investigation process.

The extension of prevention can be carried out again in accordance with the progress of the investigation from the KPK investigation team.

"The cooperative attitude of the prevented parties is also needed so that the process of resolving this case can be quickly brought and proven at trial," Ali added.

The KPK has opened a new investigation into the alleged bribery case in draining the HGU extension by officials at the Riau Province BPN Regional Office. The investigation was carried out as an effort to follow up on the trial process and legal facts related to the alleged bribery in the case of the defendant, former Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regent Andi Putra.

The KPK has named several parties as suspects. The parties named as suspects, the chronology of alleged criminal acts, and the articles alleged to be announced when investigating the case are sufficient.

During the investigation process, the KPK has also searched the offices of private companies and the homes of parties related to the case. The investigative team found and secured evidence of various documents and around 100 thousand Singapore dollars.

Previously, the KPK had named two suspects in the alleged bribery case related to the extension of the permit for the palm oil HGU in Kuansing Regency, Riau. The suspect as the recipient of the bribe was Andi Putra, while the suspect as the bribe giver was Sudarso as the General Manager of PT Adimulia Agrolestari.

In that case, the Panel of Judges of the Pekanbaru Corruption Court (Tipikor) has sentenced Andi Putra to 5 years in prison and 7 months plus a fine of Rp. 200 million, subsidiary to 4 months in prison.

The verdict was lower than the demands of the KPK public prosecutor (JPU) who asked Andi Putra to be sentenced to 8 years and 6 months in prison plus a fine of Rp. 400 million, subsidiary to 6 months in prison and replacement money of Rp. 500 million.

For the verdict, the KPK prosecutor declared an appeal on the grounds that he was not considered regarding the demands for replacement money and the revocation of political rights against the defendant Andi Putra.

Meanwhile, Sudarso was sentenced to 2 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 200 million, subsidiary to 4 months in prison. The KPK has executed Sudarso to the Sukamiskin Class I Correctional Institution (Lapas), Bandung, West Java, based on the decision that has permanent legal force.
