JEMBER - The Jember Regency Government moved quickly to deal with three schools damaged by heavy rains that flushed the local district for several hours.
"There are three state elementary schools (SDN) affected by heavy rains, namely SDN Mojomulyo 2 in Puger District, SDN Badean 1 in Bangsalsari District, and SDN Pengang 7 in Sumberbaru District," said Acting Head of the Jember Education Office Hadi Mulyono in a press release received in Jember, Antara, Sunday, October 9.
At SDN Mojomulyo 02 Puger, the school yard was eroded by water so that it experienced erosion and landslides, then at SDN Badean 01 Bangsalsari heavy rain caused ethernit to fall and at SDN Pengang 07 Sumberbaru the roof of the school building collapsed causing four classrooms to be damaged.
"Luckily, a number of these incidents did not result in any casualties because the students took the Maulid Prophet Muhammad's warning holiday," he said.
For this incident, he continued, the Jember Education Office will immediately take action as soon as possible in accordance with the direction of the Regent of Jember to check the location and find a quick solution so that teaching and learning activities (KBM) continue.
"We checked the location at SDN Mojomulyo 02 Puger together with the Public Works Department of Highways and Water Resources (DPUBMSDA), the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Jember and Muspika Puger," he said.
Handling so that erosion and landslide do not occur in the Mojomulyo 2 SDN yard for the time being is temporarily installed with large sand bags, while the Badean 1 SDN is repaired by using the regional BOS fund budget attached to the local school.
"For handling SDN Pengang 07 Sumberbaru, BPBD together with the TNI, Polri and local muspika have installed emergency tents so that learning and teaching activities can continue on Monday (10/10)," he said.
Hadi thanked all parties so that the handling of damaged schools affected by heavy rains could run well and his party gave directions to the principal so that KBM could continue to run well and smoothly.
Meanwhile, the Head of SDN Mojomulyo 02 Zuhriyah Praburani expressed his gratitude for the quick response taken by the Jember Regency Government through the education office in synergy with many parties.
"Thank you for providing assistance in preventing landslides, so that our school yard can be reused safely and comfortably. Hopefully next year there can be an insulation," he said.
