JAKARTA - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has revised regulations for organizing sports activities with relevant agencies and ministries. This is a follow-up to President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) instructions to prevent the Corruption Tragedy from happening again.

"There may also be revisions," said the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Pol. Dedi Prasetyo when confirmed in Jakarta, Saturday.

Dedi explained that the revision was made to the existing PSSI safety and security regulations, namely the 2021 edition, then new regulations were also made.

"The revision and making of this regulation have been carried out with the leading sector of the Menpora," said Dedi.

The two-star general said that the steps taken by the National Police in following up on the President's orders, the first is that the Police investigators will explore and will take further steps.

From the investigation carried out, the National Police have named six suspects related to the humanitarian incident at the Kanjuruhan Stadium. Then as many as 20 Polri personnel are suspected of violating ethics related to the incident that killed 131 residents.

"Investigators will re-investigate and further steps will be taken," he said.

The next step, related to regulations, said Dedi, has been prepared with the relevant ministries, the Police, PSSI and others

"Regulations on safety, security and SOPs are in securing football matches," he said.

Previously, Wednesday, October 5, the President also ordered the Minister of Youth and Sports Zainudin Amali, General Chair of the All-Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Mochamad Iriawan, and the National Police Chief General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo to thoroughly evaluate the implementation of football matches and the procedures for securing the match.

The tragedy at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang, began when thousands of Arema FC supporters entered the field area after their pride club lost to Persebaya with a score of 2-3.

Arema FC supporters were disappointed that some supporters took to the field looking for players and officials.

Security officers then made prevention efforts by making a diversion so that the fans did not go to the field and chase the players. In the process, the officers finally fired tear gas.

According to the East Java Police Chief Inspector General Nico Afinta, the tear gas shooting was carried out because the supporters of the team nicknamed Singo Edan who were dissatisfied and went to the field had carried out anarchic actions and endangered the safety of the players and officials.
