US Continue To Supply Weapons To Ukraine, Ministry Of Foreign Affairs: Encourage Russia-NATO Direct Military Conversion

JAKARTA - Deputy Director of the Department of Non-Proliferation and Arms Control of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Konstantin Vorontsov, said at a meeting of the United Nations on Tuesday that the United States' arms supply to Ukraine pushed the situation closer to the point of direct military confrontation between Russia and NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization).

"The US is stepping up efforts to distribute weapons to Ukraine, providing intelligence data to its military, involving militants and their advisers in conflict, which is not only expanding hostilities and causing new casualties, but also pushing the situation closer to the dangerous point of direct military confrontation between Russia and NATO," the diplomat said at a meeting of the UN General Assembly First Committee.

"Washington allocated a large amount of aid to Kyiv for military needs alone. The US and its NATO allies strongly encourage the militaristic aspirations and sentiment of the Kyiv regime's disobedience, which no longer hides plans to retake territory lost due to its destruction. policies, as well as use long-range missiles requested from the US to strike deep within Russia," Vorontsov said.

"On Washington's push, Ukrainian military-political leadership began to talk not only about the need to cause defeats on the battlefield in our country, but also to achieve, with Western aid, subsequent divisions and destruction," he said.

According to the diplomat, Western politicians forbade Kyiv to continue peace talks, keeping them attached to the idea of victory that would soon take place.

As previously reported, United States President Joe Biden told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday that Washington would provide Kyiv with new security assistance worth US$625 million, including a launch of the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS), the White House said.

President Biden "promised to continue to support Ukraine to defend itself against Russian aggression as long as necessary," the statement said.

Meanwhile, the State Department said in its release, the package included four HIMARS launchers and related rockets, 32 Howitzers with 75,000 rounds of ammunition, 200 anti-ranjau vehicles or Mine-Resistant Ambud Protected (MRAP) and Claymore antipersonnel mines.
