JAKARTA - Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday signed a decree that paved the way for Kherson and Zaporizhia's occupied Ukrainian territories to be officially exported to Russia, with an exhibition 'enabled' to be held at the Grand Kremlin Palace today.

The decision, announced by the Kremlin, said President Putin had recognized the two regions as independent territory.

This is a necessary intermediary move before Putin can proceed with plans to announce on Friday that the region is part of Russia, reported by Reuters on September 30.

Apart from Kherson and Zaporizhia, the Donetsk and Lugansk regions that will 'join' have already been recognized as independent territory, shortly before the Russian invasion of Ukraine last February.

Today, Russian President Vladimir Putin will host a'merifying' Kremlin ceremony for the annexation of four Ukrainian territories.

The ceremony is planned to be held at the Georgievsky Hall at the Grand Kremlin Palace. Meanwhile, there will be a concert at the Red Field.

On Friday's event, Putin will give a speech, meeting with leaders of the Russian-backed Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) and the Lugansk People's Republic (LNR) as well as the leaders of the parts of Kherson and Zaporizhia appointed by Russia. occupying forces.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov did not say whether President Putin would attend the Red Field concert. Previously, he attended a similar event in 2014, after Russia declared it had annexed Ukraine's Crimean territory.
