JAKARTA - The DKI Transportation Agency has revived the TransJakarta route to Bekasi and Ciputat to reduce pollutants, especially from users of private vehicles to mass public transportation.
"Now is the time to use public transportation that has been prepared by the government which they can be more efficient and of course healthier," said Head of the DKI Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, in Jakarta, Thursday, September 29, as reported by Antara.
He hopes that the operation of TransJakarta to buffer areas is projected to divert private vehicle users. The reason is, there are around 12 million motorcycles per day entering Jakarta, especially on weekdays.
"We encourage us to prepare direct public transportation services. We have run those to Bekasi through Surecon and Tangerang, Depok," he added.
Based on emission inventory data from the DKI Jakarta Environmental Agency in 2020, emissions from the transportation sector contributed around 22 percent or 11,864 gigaggrams of CO2e (Gg CO2 equivalent).
The total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions that were inventoried by DKI DLH in 2020 reached 54,057 Gg Co2e.
This number is decreasing due to restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic compared to 2019 which reached 15,380 Gg CO2e.
Meanwhile, BUMD DKI Jakarta, TransJakarta has re-operated two non-air corridor services that many people have been waiting for, namely the Summarecon Bekasi-Pancoran (B11) and Ciputat-Kampung Rambutan (S22) routes on Monday (26/9).
Head of TransJakarta Corporate Secretary Division Anang Rizkani Noor said the service served the community every Monday-Friday starting at 05.00-22.00 WIB.
"This service is reopened to accommodate the aspirations of the community and anticipate the sloping of a pandemic that has encouraged more people to carry out their activities outside," said Anang.
