JAKARTA - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sought help from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, to tame landmines due to Russia's invasion of his country, while officers raced against time to dispose before winter.
"I invite Prime Minister Trudeau to lead global efforts to clear our land from Russian mines and bullets," he said.
"As a result of the Russian war, Ukrainian territory has one of the largest mine concentrations in the world," President Zelensky continued.
"We have to do what we haven't done before. We have to set a precedent for removing mines that are fast and massive and leave no problems for decades," President Zelensky explained, thanking Canada for its willingness to help.
Meanwhile, technicians in Ukraine are racing against time to get rid of the landmines left by Russian forces and have not exploded, before winter
"I'm not afraid, I'm not nervous, but I feel responsible for what I'm doing," Natalya Kalnytska, technician from The $1OO Trust, told Fox News.
The LOO Trust, a non-profit organization dedicated to war cleaning, still has technicians in Ukraine cleaning minefields in the Donbas region since 2014.
They predict it will take years to complete the full task, as some of the country is still in disarray.
