JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin and Mrs. Wury Ma'ruf Amin left for Tokyo to attend the state funeral procession of former Japanese Prime Minister (PM) Shinzo Abe. Ma'ruf Amin and Mrs. Wury Ma'ruf Amin arrived at Haneda International Airport, Tokyo, Japan at around 18.00 local time today after a flight of 7 hours 20 minutes. At Haneda airport, as quoted from Antara, Ma'ruf and Wury Ma'ruf were welcomed by the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia (Indonesian Ambassador) to Japan and the Micronesia Federation Heri Akhmadi and the Indonesian Defense Attache in Tokyo Kol. (AF) Andi Nur Abadi. Prior to attending the funeral on Tuesday, September 27, Vice President Ma'ruf on Monday scheduled to hold a courtesy call with Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio at the Akasaka Palace. At this meeting the two leaders will discuss a number of strategic issues between the two countries. On the third day, on Tuesday, September 27 at around 14.00 local time, the Vice President accompanied by Mrs. Wury Ma'ruf Amin will attend the state funeral procession of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at Nippon Budokan. Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe passed away on July 8, 2022 after suffering a shooting incident by a man while giving a speech at a campaign event in Nara, Japan. After attending the funeral procession, around 18.00 local time, the Vice President and Mrs. Wury were scheduled to attend the Greeting Occasion activity with the Japanese Prime Minister at the Akasaka Palace. On the fourth day, Wednesday (28/9) at around 08.00 local time, the Vice President and his entourage will leave for Jakarta. Also accompanying the Vice President on this visit were the Head of the Secretariat of the Vice President Ahmad Erani Yustika, Deputy for Government Policy Support and National Insight Velix Vernando Wanggai, Director General of Protocol and Consular/Head of State Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andy Rachmianto.
