JAKARTA - The Gerindra Party's Central Leadership Council (DPP) has apologized to President Joko Widodo, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin and the public regarding the arrest operation against the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Edhy Prabowo.

"To the honorable President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, the honorable Vice President Ma'ruf Amin and all members of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, we convey our deepest apologies," Secretary General Gerindra Ahmad Muzani said in his statement, Friday, November 27.

Gerindra believes that the case that ensnared Edhy Prabowo as a suspect in the export bribery of lobster seeds or fry will not interfere with the running of the government. Gerindra believes that all programs that have been directed by President Jokowi are still running.

"In this matter, brother Edhy Prabowo submitted his resignation as Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries and Deputy Chairperson of the Gerindra DPP. We, the Gerindra DPP have received the resignation letter of brother Edhy Prabowo and now we are forwarding it to the chairman of the Gerindra Board of Trustees (Prabowo Subianto, red), "said Muzani.

Gerindra stated that he respects the legal process at the KPK by still prioritizing the presumption of innocence. Therefore, it is hoped that the legal assistance given by the Gerindra DPP to Edhy Prabowo is seen as an effort to ensure that the legal process runs transparently.

"Gerindra fully respects the legal process carried out by the KPK against the allegations made by him (Edhy Prabowo). Therefore, we fully believe that in dealing with this problem to the KPK, this issue will be handled transparently well, quickly and in the end the public can clearly know what the problem is, "Muzani said.

In addition, Muzani advised Gerindra cadres and administrators to remain solid. He believed that the problem that caught Edhy Prabowo was the party's internal learning.
