JAKARTA - The Traffic Corps (Korlantas) of the National Police has been asked to conduct a traffic engineering trial or rehearsal to the G20 Summit.
"Every shift towards the venue (of the event venue) certainly involves friends from the traffic ranks. So please really train because this is also the honor of the state," said National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo at the Launching of ETLE Phase III to coincide with the 67th Bhayangkara Traffic Day, at Korlantas Polri, South Jakarta, Thursday, September 22.
The National Police Chief said, referring to previous experiences in other countries that held the G20 Summit, problems regarding congestion and accumulation of vehicles at the event venue were complaints from delegates from other countries.
The buildup and traffic jams resulted in the delegates having to wait hours to get in the car and move from one place to another.
"When there is a buildup or then a traffic jam, especially at the venues, this will be a problem," he explained.
On this occasion, Listyo revealed that there will be eight venues related to the G20 Summit, namely I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Sawangan area, Garuda Wisnu Kencana tourist attractions (GWK), Tahura Mangrove, toll roads, ITDC areas, and Kura-Kura Island.
The engineering route to the G20 venue will take place, namely route engineering on the ITDC area and Sawangan area to GWK, route engineering on the ITDC area road and Sawangan area to Tahura Mangrove, as well as engineering 2 at Traffic Light in the Sakenan area.
"Implement and perform the implementation of escorts, routes, patrols, and parking (walrolakir) before the implementation, so that there is no accumulation or congestion on the lanes and venues that are passed and become objects of activity," said Listyo.
The National Police has also prepared Command Center 91 which has been integrated with the Command Center of the Bali Police and the BNDCC Assistant Command Post as the center for control, coordination, communication, and information.
"Of course later it will be monitored by the Command Center that has been prepared, where colleagues from the traffic ranks will also be equipped with body citizens, as well as information related to weather problems, wind speed, and so on," said Listyo.
"Everything is installed so that members of the task force can get information at the Command Center. We hope it can help so that problems do not occur when colleagues carry out their duties," said Listyo.
