Luhut Pandjaitan Asks The KPK Not To Overdo It When Investigating The Edhy Prabowo Bribery Case

JAKARTA - The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment who also serves as the Ad Interim Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan asked the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to carry out its duties according to the rules.

Luhut also asked the Corruption Eradication Commission not to overdo the corruption issue of fry export permits that dragged the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Edhy Prabowo.

"I ask the KPK to also check according to the good regulations. Don't overdo it," said Luhut at the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) Building, Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur, Central Jakarta, Friday, November 27.

Luhut said that the KPK must be balanced in conducting investigations. "Not all people are bad, some are good," he said.

Regarding the corruption case of fry export, currently, the KPK is still conducting searches at the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) office at the Mina Bahari IV Building.

This search was carried out by a number of investigators including two senior investigators, namely Ambarita Damanik and Novel Baswedan.

The search started at 10.45 WIB and has not been completed until now. In fact, at around 18.10 WIB several investigators' cars docked again after leaving the location.

Regarding the results of the search, to date, the KPK has not provided any statements.

Previously reported, Edhy allegedly received a bribe of Rp. 3.4 billion, which was then used as much as Rp. 750 million to buy luxury goods in Honolulu, Hawaii, United States. The items he bought were in the form of bags, clothes, and luxury Rolex watches.

In this case, Edhy Prabowo was named a suspect in receiving bribes along with five other people, namely: Stafsus Minister of KKP Safri (SAF) and Andreau Pribadi Misanta (APM); Management of PT Aero Citra Kargo (PT ACK) Siswadi (SWD); The staff of the wife of the Minister of KKP, Ainul Faqih, and Amiril Mukminin (AM).

Meanwhile, the giver of the bribe was the Director of PT Dua Putra Perkasa Pratama (PT DPPP) Suharjito (SJT).

Edhy Prabowo and a number of suspects were arrested by the KPK prosecution team at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Cengkareng, Tangerang upon arrival from Honolulu, Hawaii, United States.

After being named a suspect, Edhy and other parties will be detained at the KPK Detention Center for the Red and White House KPK for the next 20 days from November 25 to December 14.
